Hello, I have this old computer but I'm not sure what model/type the computer is other than a Heathkit.

Could you please let me know if you know what is it?

When I turn it on the power supply makes noise but the screen doesn't turn on. Is there a special way to get it to turn on?

The floppy drive disk turn a little when I turn that computer off but otherwise it doesn't turn. I have a big floppy disk but I'm not sure what is on it, because the screen doesn't turn on.

Thanks for your help.

Here is the link to the photobucket library:-

Hi Maverick,

to insert a photo in your post, you place them in a picture library such as photobucket (imageshack does not permit linking to) and then link to them from here using:-

post options/edit post/insert image(5th from left)

Good Luck - Mike (with assistance from Shador)

It won't let me insert the photos from iPhoto, it keeps wanting me to enter a website that they are on.

How do I get around this?

Thanks,
Trevor

Mike H, if you are following this, have you any suggestion asto why the pictures do not show?

I tried linking to the library (of 6 photos), which failed. Wondered if being a library was the reason for the failure.

Tried using the direct link for *EACH* photo which *WORKS*, but they are a bit on the large size.

Thanks - Mike N.

Maverick - have you seen these:-

http://www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org/zenith/
There is an email address there for Mathew.

Possibly the floppy disks are hard sectored, which are not easily found now.

As a matter of interest, where are you based? I am in Hammersmith, West London.

Regards - Mike

Hi Trevor, anywhere near Lubbock, where my favourite singer hails from?

I have edited my above post with further details, and as you can see found a way to attach your photos, although I only added one.

From the labels on the computer pictured in the oldcomputers.net link, it appears to be a Model H88 (no floppy) with a H88-6 Backplate Modification kit fitted. Which may explain why the back of yours is different at the back. There are a number of recent comments there with contact email addresses.

Regards - Mike.

I'm down by the Houston area.

Ok, I updated the rest of the pictures.

There is a floppy disk drive, and I have a floppy disk, but I thought this was a H89, but I can't tell.

So you think I should email some of the people on that website that you gave me as well?

Thanks,
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

the rear view pictured in the oldcomputers.net link shows labels H88 (no floppy) and H88-6 (backplane extension). Although the front views are unclear and there may be a floppy drive there.

If yours had a floppy drive from when first built, this would make it a H89 or WH89.

Possibly some of the other contacts may be able to help. e.g. Mathew refers to comprehensive manual.

Google is also one's friend in such matters, see:-

http://www.d8apro.com/

Search using 88 on the manuals webpagwes

Good Luck - Mike

Ok, thank you so much for your help.

What do you think the value of this machine is?
