Cat and mouse

"Can the clever mouse elude the cantankerous cat? A hilarious electronic addition game of hide and seek for 2 players

The mouse must get to his house without being caught by the cat. The cat, on the other hand, tries to catch the mouse as quickly as he can. Neither the cat nor the mouse may enter the blue squares. If either player crosses a blue square, he must return immediately to his starting position (cat or mouse figure) before continuing the chase. The mouse light will be extinguished if caught by the cat. Play is then stopped.

Scoring: at the point of interception where the cat extinguishes the mouse, the points accumulated by the mouse for the run are marked down on a sheet of paper."

Cat and Mouse is the implementation of the first game imagined by Ralph Baer for the Odyssey: Fox & Hound, where the goal is to catch the other player. One player is controlling the mouse (big white square) and the other the cat (big white square). All the action takes place in a sort of maze materialized by the plastic layer you put on your TV screen! So of course, there is now way for the Odyssey to tell if characters are actually hitting walls or not. So players must auto-discipline and even keep score on a sheet of paper...

Despite this, Cat and Mouse is the first maze video game ever,a popular genre which will eventually evolve into Pac-Man.
